Tom and Trina Curtin are returning to Hy Court again November 5th-7th to present clinics in Horsemanship and Colt Starting. Tom Curtin Quality Horsemanship has been a wonderful asset to the Hy Court program, helping us get a solid start and a good foundation on our young horses and refine the skills of our mature horses.Tom Curtin grew up in the Big Sky State of Montana where his father had an outfitting and packing business. Tom was extremely fortunate to be around and work for some of the most famous ranches of the west; among them being The King Ranch, The Four 6's , Johnson Ranch and the 7D Ranch. Along with beneficial settings for horse training, Tom also had the chance to learn from many inspirational men in the horse world. Buster Welch, for example, had a significant influence on how Tom now views and trains the horse. Ray Hunt and his wife, Carolyn, also played an active role in the formation of Tom's horsemanship. Ray showed Tom how to look at things from the horse's point of view, an invaluable aspect of horse training that Tom still honors today. Along the way, however, a constant figure in Tom's life was his father who remains today an exceptional and an accomplished horseman
Tom Curtin is a great teacher who enjoys working with poeple as much as he enjoys working with horses. In a Horsemanship class, Tom will give the class several manuvers to work at so that each rider can experience feel, timing, and balance at his or her own level. He tries to help each rider get together with their horse, to become one with their horse, in a quality balanced relationship.

Tom Curtin feels it is a tremendous honor when someone comes to him to start their colt. He takes this trust in his abilities seriously. Tom likes to get the riders and their horses as far along as possible in a three day clinic so that they may succeed in any discipline they choose to go into. Whether it be riding down the trail, working cattle or competing in a show, Tom knows that if you have the fundamentals you will be prepared to have a balanced, working relationship with your horse.
Tuition for the Horsemanship Class is $400, and tuition for the Colt Starting is $500. A $50 discount is available if a 50% deposit is paid more than 60 days in advance of the clinic.
